Newsletter 2013

Welcome to Groby Tae Kwon-Do’s club newsletter for 2013.

What’s new?

Training Fees

Can all students/parents who pay their fees by cash please put it in an envelope with their name, grade and amount written clearly on the front as this makes it easier to deal with on payment day. Also, can students/parents make sure that they get their payment cards stamped when fees are paid - sometimes mistakes can happen and this is your proof of payment.

If you take a break (holiday etc) that training fees are still due and should be paid as normal. You can make up your missed lessons by training extra hours when you come back or make up the missed hours by training at any one of Mr Freer’s clubs instead.

Remember, missed lessons will jeopardise your grading!

Senior Classes

Some students are not training on the right classes at our club!

If you are a blue belt (or above) then you are classed as a senior grade and thus need to be attending the senior classes (8:30pm - 9:30pm).

I understand that it can be late for the younger ones, and I have no problem with them training in the middle class. However, for all other senior grades, you need to look like senior grades and thus must up your level of training! If you continue to train in the wrong sessions, you'll stay looking like a lower grade but more importantly, your future gradings are at risk of being put back.

Bue belts and red belts need to train with the black belts!

Red Belts and Black Stripes

These students should definitely be training on the senior classes if they intend to grade, and will not be considered for a black belt grading otherwise.

Patterns Night

Patterns' night take place every Friday night (7:30pm-9pm) and are held at Mountsorrel Methodist Church Centre, Churchill Road, Mountsorrel, LE12 7JB.

These classes are for red belts, black stripes and black belts only. These nights comprising patterns only will improve your confidence and how you deal with pressure.

These sessions are not compulsory but they will improve your chances at the Black Belt grading. Please take the opportunity to improve your patterns (which carry 70% of the marks on your grading).

Cost? £4 - Pay on the night.

Seminar with Master Pat Carter (6th Dan)

Master Carter is an ex-England squad member with many years of experience of competitions and instructing. Highly recommended that you attend, this is going to be a good seminar mainly practicing pad-work & sparring drills.

Mock Pre Black Belt Gradings [^top of page]

Mr Freer will be holding a mock black belt grading at Loughborough at 10am on Sunday 24th February, for Black Stripes who are due to grade in April.

The mock grading will be held in the 2012 bulding, Radmoor Road, Loughborough, LE1 3BT.

There is no charge for this grading and if you have achieved the required standard, you will receive a Black Belt application pack off your instructor shortly afterwards.

Should I Attend?

Attendance is highly recommended as it will give both us and you an impartial and objective assessment of your ability and readiness to grade.

Can't make a pre-black belt training session?

If you are taking your black belt grading, you must attend all 3 pre-black belt training sessions prior to your black belt grading otherwise you will not be eligible to grade.

Students who are not grading must attend one of these three sessions.

Tell your instructor if you cannot make any of the sessions.

Remember to take your black belt licence booklet to be signed together with your £5.00 training fee.
